New Stuff!

Eh finally after all my life drama I have got some images up!

they are in my drawings album of my photobucket:

Just a couple of pages from my sketchbook, more designy this time.

I think we should settle on a more definite stem cell "theme" to go for, like the metamorphosis from foetal stem cell to the range of specalized cells (and then which cells and stem cells to go for) or raising awareness of a specific stem cell therapy possiblity, for exalmple Parkinsons, spinal chord, or retinal (and then concentrate on those specific cells in our designs). It may help move the process on a bit and we can start getting some real designin' goin'. :)

  1. I like the first idea - stem cell, with a range of offspring to show the range of potential metamorphoses. It could fit several of the topics in this blog - retinal stem cell, neural stem cell, neural crest stem cell: all have a range of distinct offspring. It also follows through on that form/function thing we talked about.
As for which stem cell to go for - I guess if there is one with a more attractive set of offspring, then that would be more interesting to make?

Re the drawings, the big neuron choker is beauuutiful (even though it doesn't quite fit into the stem cell theme, I kind of just want to make that!)

  2. the metamorphasis brooch idea is also really cool. Alternatively, could you overlay different cell shapes onto the disc, with the disc itself representing the stem cell? Maybe you could have several copies of the same disc, just with different overlays highlighted on each one in different colours? I like the blue background with flouro green/red/yellow on top - references the colours of microscope pictures.

  3. Dude! Granule cells are indeed awesome! I like the whole set of retinal neuron development stuff - bipolar necklace yay! Maybe we could go forward with retinal neuron shapes? I know a guy who is working on those and could try to blag some unpublished images...

  4. Awww awesome, I love the retinal neurons they are very pretty.

Images and descriptions of the cells relationships (or places to find them) are key at this point as I have generally not a clue :s.
Unpublished ones are a massive bonus as we would have nice fresh source material to base our designs on. (I am a relentless design zombie but instead of fresh brains I wander around calling for fresh imaaaaaaaaaages)

For the metamorphosis brooch having the same print on each one and then highlighting different cells on each in the collection is awesome and we could also maybe put a cut out of the cell on to so it is 3d.
I do like the bipolar necklace a lot as it is so simple a concept, also for the main part we could use this flexible plastic tubing that comes in fluoro colours!!

  5. ooooo the 3d cutout on the brooch could be clear fluoro acrylic on top of the printed aluminium

  6. Sorry for lateness. More replies later. Also we need to start filling in the form, I think. Deadline is probably soon...

    3D is good. I like 3D. :)
